Goals of this Class

• First Insights into the rails framework
• rough understanding why rails is suitable for agile development
• practice looking things up on the web :)
• learn to read error messages
• Rails: create an app with a resource using scaffold
• add some simple functionality
• add a gem
• use an api

Exercise for Credit:

Either run through michael hartl’s tutorial or create an app including a bit of domain logic, using a gem and maybe even an api.

• Rails Dash + The Console(30min) The Kanu App done in class
• Where to look things up (15min)
• project ideas(10min)

Mo 2.9. 14.00-16.30 (150 min)

• try out the rails dash (in pairs) (60 min)
• What is Agile Development? (20min)
• create a backlog for your project (in your project pairs) (20 min)
• some background on rails (15 min)
• web development in general (15 min)
• (if time left: create sprint backlog)

• input: rails migrations (add km to kanu, commit) and associations (watercourse, commit)
• implement first story

• input: add functionality ( sort by km, add vote, search text )
